U.S. Wallpaper Export Price per Ton June 2022

In June 2022, the wallpaper price per ton amounted to $10,328 (FOB, US), falling by -6.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 an increase of 6.3% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $11,864 per ton. From March 2022 to June 2022, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Canada ($14,902 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cayman Islands ($7,432 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

U.S. Wallpaper Export Prices by Type

Average prices varied noticeably for the major types of exported product. In June 2022, the product with the highest price was wallpaper and similar wall coverings; coated or covered on the face side, with a grained, embossed, coloured, design-printed or otherwise decorated layer of plastics ($10,772 per ton), while the average price for exports of wallpaper and similar wall coverings and window transparencies; of paper, n.e.s. amounted to $9,606 per ton.

From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: wallpaper and similar wall coverings; coated or covered on the face side, with a grained, embossed, coloured, design-printed or otherwise decorated layer of plastics (-0.5%).

U.S. Wallpaper Exports

In June 2022, wallpaper exports from the United States expanded significantly to 466 tons, growing by 14% against May 2022 figures. Overall, total exports indicated a remarkable increase from January 2022 to June 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +7.3% over the last five months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2022 figures, exports increased by +70.4% against February 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 41% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in June 2022.

In value terms, wallpaper exports stood at $4.8M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2022. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +5.6% over the period from January 2022 to June 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when exports increased by 30% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in June 2022.

U.S. Wallpaper Exports by Type

Wallpaper and similar wall coverings; coated or covered on the face side, with a grained, embossed, coloured, design-printed or otherwise decorated layer of plastics (289 tons) and wallpaper and similar wall coverings and window transparencies; of paper, n.e.s. (177 tons) were the main products of wallpaper exports from the United States.

From January 2022 to June 2022, the biggest increases were in wallpaper and similar wall coverings and window transparencies; of paper, n.e.s. (with a CAGR of +13.1%).

In value terms, wallpaper and similar wall coverings; coated or covered on the face side, with a grained, embossed, coloured, design-printed or otherwise decorated layer of plastics ($3.1M) and wallpaper and similar wall coverings and window transparencies; of paper, n.e.s. ($1.7M) appeared to be the most exported types of wallpaper and wall coverings from the United States worldwide.

Among the main product categories, wallpaper and similar wall coverings and window transparencies; of paper, n.e.s., with a CAGR of +9.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review.

U.S. Wallpaper Exports by Country

Mexico (129 tons), Canada (86 tons) and Cayman Islands (52 tons) were the main destinations of wallpaper exports from the United States, with a combined 57% share of total exports.

From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Cayman Islands (with a CAGR of +127.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for wallpaper exported from the United States were Canada ($1.3M), Mexico ($1.3M) and Cayman Islands ($384K), with a combined 61% share of total exports.

Cayman Islands, with a CAGR of +127.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
