The countries with the highest volumes of production in 2022 were China (194B litres), Germany (104B litres) and the United States (67B litres), with a combined 46% share of global production. India, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Pakistan, France, Indonesia, Turkey and Bangladesh lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.

Over the period under review, global imports reached the maximum at 35B litres in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Poland (7.5B litres) and the Netherlands (7.1B litres) were the major importers of bottled watersin the world, together achieving 50% of total imports. France (2B litres) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 6.9% share, followed by Belgium (6.1%), the United States (5.4%) and Germany (4.5%).
