Ceramic Household Article Price in China (FOB) - 2023
The average ceramic household article export price stood at $3,146 per ton in September 2023, rising by 2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 14% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $5,181 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($4,169 per ton), while the average price for exports to Peru ($1,758 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Peru (-1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Ceramic Household Article Price in China (CIF) - 2023
The average ceramic household article import price stood at $8,372 per ton in September 2023, with a decrease of -12.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 when the average import price increased by 42% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $10,797 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($31,898 per ton), while the price for Portugal ($1,288 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ceramic Household Article Exports in China
In 2022, exports of ceramic household articles and toilet articles from China shrank slightly to 2.1M tons, declining by -3.5% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 2.2M tons, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
In value terms, ceramic household article exports rose rapidly to $8.7B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Ceramic Household Article Imports in China
For the fourth consecutive year, China recorded growth in overseas purchases of ceramic household articles and toilet articles, which increased by 33% to 16K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +18.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +64.6% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, ceramic household article imports rose markedly to $134M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +66.8% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
