Chicory Price in India (FOB) - 2023
In October 2023, the average chicory export price amounted to $911 per ton, with an increase of 12% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a moderate expansion from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, chicory export price increased by +11.6% against September 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 88% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,310 per ton. From December 2022 to October 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In October 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Latvia ($1,038 per ton) and Australia ($947 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($821 per ton) and Italy ($844 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average chicory import price amounted to $11,533 per ton, growing by 152% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a significant expansion. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($12,375 per ton), while the price for China amounted to $9,850 per ton.
From 2018 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Croatia (-5.1%).
Chicory Exports in India
For the fourth year in a row, India recorded growth in overseas shipments of chicory, which increased by 172% to 1.7K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 321%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
