Cinnamon Price in France (CIF) - 2023
The average cinnamon import price stood at $7,230 per ton in June 2023, rising by 2.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 when the average import price increased by 47% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $8,073 per ton. From October 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($8,688 per ton), while the price for Madagascar ($5,167 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Madagascar (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cinnamon Price in France (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average cinnamon export price amounted to $11,365 per ton, rising by 1.5% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated slight growth from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, cinnamon export price decreased by -22.8% against March 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 an increase of 73% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $14,716 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Portugal ($25,627 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($5,308 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cinnamon Imports in France
In 2022, supplies from abroad of cinnamon (canella) decreased by -6% to 1.5K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 1.8K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
