Coconut Oil Price in Greece (CIF) - 2023
The average coconut oil import price stood at $1,396 per ton in June 2023, waning by -14.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a pronounced decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 42% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2,706 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,029 per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($1,165 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (-0.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Coconut Oil Price in Greece (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average coconut oil export price amounted to $1,887 per ton, dropping by -1.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 13% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $2,473 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Bulgaria ($1,909 per ton) and Italy ($1,896 per ton), while the average price for exports to Croatia ($1,771 per ton) and Romania ($1,851 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (-1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Coconut Oil Imports in Greece
For the fourth consecutive year, Greece recorded growth in overseas purchases of coconut (copra) oil, which increased by 31% to 16K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 55%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, coconut oil imports soared to $31M in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 96%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
