Commercial Printing Price in Chile (CIF) - 2023

The average commercial printing import price stood at $7,704 per ton in July 2023, with a decrease of -30.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed temperate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 88% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $15,552 per ton. From April 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($14,151 per ton), while the price for China ($1,911 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Commercial Printing Price in Chile (FOB) - 2022

The average commercial printing export price stood at $12,955 per ton in 2022, falling by -7.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 93% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $14,960 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($27,135 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($922 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Argentina (+15.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, commercial printing imports into Chile rose significantly to 20K tons, with an increase of 8.6% against 2021 figures. In general, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +95.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 80% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, commercial printing imports rose sharply to $198M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +70.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 57%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
