Commercial Printing Price in Sri Lanka (CIF) - 2022

The average commercial printing import price stood at $12,655 per ton in 2022, flattening at the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 23%. The import price peaked at $13,312 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($25,608 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($3,494 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average commercial printing export price stood at $10,810 per ton in 2022, increasing by 5.8% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, commercial printing export price increased by +82.8% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 63% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $12,476 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sierra Leone ($35,440 per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($2,288 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Myanmar (+13.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, commercial printing imports into Sri Lanka declined sharply to 4.5K tons, with a decrease of -20.3% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt decline.
