Commercial Printing Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023

In July 2023, the average commercial printing export price amounted to $4,759 per ton, dropping by -8.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 30% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $6,804 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($8,179 per ton), while the average price for exports to Syrian Arab Republic ($1,384 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Commercial Printing Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022

The average commercial printing import price stood at $15,470 per ton in 2022, flattening at the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 22% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $15,561 per ton in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($26,339 per ton), while the price for Lebanon ($1,910 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+12.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Commercial Printing Exports in Turkey

For the fourth consecutive year, Turkey recorded growth in shipments abroad of commercial printing (except screen and books), which increased by 33% to 68K tons in 2022. In general, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +50.7% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, commercial printing exports surged to $345M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +66.7% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Commercial Printing Imports in Turkey

In 2022, approx. 10K tons of commercial printing (except screen and books) were imported into Turkey; surging by 3.8% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a mild slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 7.1%.

In value terms, commercial printing imports rose modestly to $162M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 12%.
