Dry Bean Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average dry bean export price amounted to $916 per ton, picking up by 20% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 23% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $996 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Turkey ($2,178 per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($700 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Dry Bean Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average dry bean import price amounted to $818 per ton, leveling off at the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 an increase of 23% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $921 per ton. From June 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Argentina.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Argentina amounted to +0.7% per month.
Dry Bean Exports in Brazil
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of beans (dry), when their volume decreased by -39.2% to 136K tons. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 27% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 224K tons, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, dry bean exports contracted markedly to $113M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $212M, and then shrank notably in the following year.
