Folding Boxboard Price in China (FOB) - 2023
The average folding boxboard export price stood at $1,085 per ton in June 2023, declining by -4.5% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 11% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,454 per ton. From October 2022 to June 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Russia ($1,483 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($866 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Folding Boxboard Price in China (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average folding boxboard import price amounted to $1,176 per ton, which is down by -2.6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 12% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,435 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($2,755 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($602 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Folding Boxboard Exports in China
In 2022, overseas shipments of folding boxboard were finally on the rise to reach 3.2M tons after two years of decline. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, folding boxboard exports surged to $3.9B in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a significant expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, folding boxboard imports reduced dramatically to $917M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a slight reduction.
