The average gold import price stood at $56,192,164 per ton in 2022, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a modest increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 226%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $165,955 per kg. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Turkey ($56,519,610 per ton) and Italy ($56,426,224 per ton), while the price for Austria ($55,841,342 per ton) and Hong Kong SAR ($55,841,664 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+10.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Gold Price in Israel (FOB) - 2022
The average gold export price stood at $57,917,431 per ton in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. In general, export price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, gold export price increased by +63.4% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 23%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Switzerland ($57,932,348 per ton) and Turkey ($57,932,123 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($57,642,589 per ton) and Italy ($57,925,317 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Gold Imports in Israel
In 2022, the amount of gold imported into Israel contracted markedly to 1.1 tons, which is down by -32.9% compared with the previous year. In general, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 409%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 1.6 tons, and then declined notably in the following year.
In value terms, gold imports shrank significantly to $60M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 445%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $90M, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, gold exports fell dramatically to $6.3M in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth.
