The average graphite import price stood at $4,020 per ton in 2022, picking up by 30% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 62% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $8,995 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($6,277 per ton), while the price for Germany amounted to $3,297 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+13.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average graphite export price amounted to $2,530 per ton, with a decrease of -40.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 795%. The export price peaked at $4,246 per ton in 2021, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Albania ($10,047 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($1,366 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Albania (+128.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Graphite Imports in Greece

In 2022, imports of graphite (natural) into Greece skyrocketed to 191 tons, jumping by 34% on 2021. Overall, imports showed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 92%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, graphite imports skyrocketed to $766K in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed significant growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, graphite exports skyrocketed to $12K in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 1,103%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
