The average hardboard import price stood at $930 per cubic meter in 2022, increasing by 9.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 15% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,035 per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($1,481 per cubic meter), while the price for France ($549 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Hardboard Imports in Tunisia
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was decline in overseas purchases of hardboard, when their volume decreased by -4.6% to 541 cubic meters. Over the period under review, imports faced a precipitous setback. Imports peaked at 1.1K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, hardboard imports expanded modestly to $503K in 2022. In general, imports showed a drastic downturn. Imports peaked at $736K in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
