Honey Price in Sweden (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average honey import price amounted to $5,236 per ton, picking up by 3.9% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 13% m-o-m. The import price peaked in August 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($9,701 per ton), while the price for Spain ($3,822 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Honey Price in Sweden (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average honey export price amounted to $5,783 per ton, surging by 3.4% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 19% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $6,334 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Norway ($6,611 per ton), while the average price for exports to Finland totaled $5,145 per ton.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Norway (+3.9%).
Honey Imports in Sweden
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of honey, when their volume increased by 11% to 4.8K tons. In general, imports, however, saw a perceptible decline.
In value terms, honey imports rose sharply to $22M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a noticeable setback.

Honey Exports in Sweden
For the fourth consecutive year, Sweden recorded growth in overseas shipments of honey, which increased by 6.1% to 527 tons in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +27.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +105.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 83% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, honey exports rose to $3M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +23.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +89.5% against 2019 indices.
