Kiwi Fruit Price in Australia (CIF) - 2023
In May 2023, the average kiwi fruit import price amounted to $2,635 per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a modest expansion from July 2022 to May 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% over the last ten months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on May 2023 figures, kiwi fruit import price decreased by -36.6% against January 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 77% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $4,158 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to May 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for New Zealand.
From July 2022 to May 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United States amounted to +8.2% per month.
Kiwi Fruit Price in Australia (FOB) - 2023
In May 2023, the average kiwi fruit export price amounted to $3,275 per ton, dropping by -9.8% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed mild growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 75% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $8,675 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to May 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Qatar ($6,404 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($2,767 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Papua New Guinea (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Kiwi Fruit Imports in Australia
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of kiwi fruits decreased by -18.9% to 20K tons in 2022. Overall, imports showed a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 9.4%.
In value terms, kiwi fruit imports shrank to $53M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 20%.

Kiwi Fruit Exports in Australia
In 2022, overseas shipments of kiwi fruits decreased by -48.1% to 312 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports faced a sharp setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 15% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 745 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, kiwi fruit exports dropped remarkably to $1.1M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 51% against the previous year.
