South Africa (3.4K tons), Belarus (2.8K tons), Brazil (2.4K tons), Guatemala (2.3K tons), China (2K tons) and Chile (1.4K tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from India increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kenya (+62.9%) and Chile (+8.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kenya emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +62.9% from 2012-2022. Guatemala and Brazil experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, China (-4.3%), Sweden (-4.4%), Russia (-5.2%), Pakistan (-6.4%), South Africa (-7.0%), Indonesia (-7.7%) and Belarus (-8.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of India (+11 p.p.) and Kenya (+5.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2022, the share of Sweden (-2 p.p.), Russia (-2.4 p.p.), South Africa (-2.7 p.p.), Belarus (-2.9 p.p.), Pakistan (-3.8 p.p.) and Indonesia (-4.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, India ($58M) remains the largest matches supplier worldwide, comprising 29% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Sweden ($26M), with a 13% share of global exports. It was followed by Pakistan, with a 6.5% share.
In India, matches exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Sweden (-3.7% per year) and Pakistan (-7.1% per year).
Export Prices By Country
The average matches export price stood at $2,166 per ton in 2022, picking up by 8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $2,262 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
