Mechanical Wood Pulp Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
The average mechanical wood pulp export price stood at $324 per ton in September 2023, with an increase of 37% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a deep reduction. The export price peaked at $658 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Brazil ($839 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($46.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to New Zealand (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average mechanical wood pulp import price stood at $440 per ton in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 36%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $593 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
