Mushroom and Truffle Price in Panama (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average mushroom and truffle import price amounted to $3,044 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 8.8% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $3,597 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($4,758 per ton), while the price for China ($1,812 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Mushroom and Truffle Price in Panama (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average mushroom and truffle export price amounted to $5,000 per ton, dropping by -5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 63% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $5,380 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Costa Rica.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Aruba amounted to +12.5% per year.
Mushroom and Truffle Imports in Panama
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of mushrooms and truffles, when their volume decreased by -17.3% to 128 tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 87% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 155 tons, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, mushroom and truffle imports fell significantly to $391K in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +48.4% against 2020 indices.
