Non-Combined Refrigerator-Freezer Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average non-combined refrigerator-freezer import price amounted to $199 per unit, surging by 26% against the previous month. Over the last eleven months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $218 per unit in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($1,462 per unit), while the price for China ($110 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Non-Combined Refrigerator-Freezer Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
The average non-combined refrigerator-freezer export price stood at $409 per unit in August 2023, growing by 9.4% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $443 per unit in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($448 per unit), while the average price for exports to Germany ($236 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Non-Combined Refrigerator-Freezer Imports in the United States
In 2022, purchases abroad of household refrigerators and freezers (not combined) decreased by less than 0.1% to 8.8M units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -18.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 94% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 11M units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-combined refrigerator-freezer imports expanded notably to $1.4B in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +63.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
