Nucleic Acids Price in Pakistan (CIF) - 2023

In February 2023, the average nucleic acids import price amounted to $17,255 per ton, reducing by -41.6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 9.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $36,301 per ton in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to February 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($33,715 per ton), while the price for China ($15,563 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (-2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Nucleic Acids Price in Pakistan (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average nucleic acids export price amounted to $132,812 per ton, increasing by 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 380%. The export price peaked at $557,500 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($197,118 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($6,037 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+20.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Nucleic Acids Imports in Pakistan

For the fourth consecutive year, Pakistan recorded growth in overseas purchases of nucleic acids and their salts, which increased by 11% to 3.6K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +19.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +71.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 44% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, nucleic acids imports fell slightly to $117M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +11.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 25%.

Nucleic Acids Exports in Pakistan

In 2022, shipments abroad of nucleic acids and their salts decreased by -37.5% to 6.8 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 582% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 15 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, nucleic acids exports shrank to $906K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 878% against the previous year.
