China Polyester Textile Filament Yarn (Excluding Sewing Thread) Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the polyester textile filament yarn (excluding sewing thread) price stood at $1,436 per ton (FOB, China), shrinking by -2.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 when the average export price increased by 4.2% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $1,593 per ton in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to September 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($1,923 per ton), while the average price for exports to Jordan ($1,194 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Egypt (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2022, overseas shipments of polyester textile filament yarn (excluding sewing thread) decreased by -5.1% to 199K tons, falling for the third consecutive month after two months of growth. In general, exports showed a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 with an increase of 28% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 270K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, exports of polyester textile filament yarn (excluding sewing thread) contracted to $286M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 32% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 401K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

India (27K tons), Brazil (22K tons) and Vietnam (22K tons) were the main destinations of exports of polyester textile filament yarn (excluding sewing thread) from China, with a combined 36% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in India (with a CAGR of +13.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Vietnam ($35M), India ($33M) and Brazil ($29M) constituted the largest markets for polyester textile filament yarn (excluding sewing thread) exported from China worldwide, with a combined 34% share of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, India, with a CAGR of +13.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
