At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+47.9%), Turkey (+11.6%), the Netherlands (+3.7%) and Germany (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +47.9% from 2012-2022. The United States experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, France (-2.0%) and the UK (-16.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Vietnam (+24 p.p.), Saudi Arabia (+2.3 p.p.) and the Netherlands (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while the UK saw its share reduced by -14.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Vietnam ($95M) constitutes the largest market for imported prepared skins of birds worldwide, comprising 52% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($20M), with an 11% share of global imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 3.9% share.

Exports from China decreased at an average annual rate of -4.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+71.9%), the Netherlands (+28.6%), South Africa (+6.0%), Germany (+3.8%) and the United States (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the United Arab Emirates emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +71.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Vietnam (-1.6%), Bulgaria (-7.1%), Taiwan (Chinese) (-8.7%) and France (-9.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Netherlands (+7 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+6 p.p.) and South Africa (+3.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Bulgaria, France, Taiwan (Chinese) and China saw its share reduced by -2.3%, -2.5%, -2.8% and -8.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($64M) remains the largest prepared birds skin supplier worldwide, comprising 45% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Africa ($25M), with an 18% share of global exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with an 8.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China stood at -4.0%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Africa (+10.0% per year) and Vietnam (-1.2% per year).

Export Prices By Country
