Preserved Olive Price in Greece (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average preserved olive export price amounted to $2,880 per ton, flattening at the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a mild slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 15% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $3,246 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($3,877 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($1,719 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preserved Olive Price in Greece (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average preserved olive import price amounted to $1,289 per ton, reducing by -4.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 16% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,459 per ton. From December 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($3,344 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($1,111 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preserved Olive Exports in Greece
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of olives prepared or preserved decreased by -8.8% to 203K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 26% against the previous year.
In value terms, preserved olive exports rose markedly to $669M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +9.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +58.1% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, preserved olive imports skyrocketed to $32M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +62.2% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
