The average export price for activated carbon; activated natural mineral products; animal black, including spent animal blacks stood at $3,290 per ton in December 2023, with an increase of 9.5% against the previous month. Over the period from December 2022 to December 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 32% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in December 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($7,056 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($643 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+15.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price peaked at $1,979 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Sri Lanka ($3,653 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($794 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
