Price for Aluminium Waste and Scrap in the Czech Republic (CIF) - 2023

In June 2023, the average aluminium waste and scrap import price amounted to $1,586 per ton, leveling off at the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 6.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,872 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Slovakia ($1,831 per ton) and Croatia ($1,673 per ton), while the price for Austria ($1,432 per ton) and Slovenia ($1,442 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Croatia (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average aluminium waste and scrap export price stood at $1,730 per ton in June 2023, with a decrease of -4.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 39% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $1,900 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($2,654 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($967 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Pakistan (+53.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Aluminium Waste and Scrap in the Czech Republic

In 2022, overseas purchases of aluminium waste and scraps increased by 2.1% to 120K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, saw a pronounced decrease.

In value terms, aluminium waste and scrap imports fell rapidly to $157M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 45%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $186M, and then declined markedly in the following year.

Exports of Aluminium Waste and Scrap in the Czech Republic

In 2022, the amount of aluminium waste and scraps exported from the Czech Republic dropped to 71K tons, reducing by -12.9% on the previous year. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 35%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 82K tons, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium waste and scrap exports dropped sharply to $100M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a measured expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 105% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $135M, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
