In July 2023, the average export price for caviar (salmon) and caviar substitutes amounted to $33,330 per ton, standing approximately at the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 21% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $41,834 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($51,540 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($28,638 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In July 2023, the average import price for caviar (salmon) and caviar substitutes amounted to $8,828 per ton, reducing by -11.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 42% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $13,122 per ton. From January 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
