In January 2024, the average import price for ethylene polymers; waste, parings and scraps amounted to $333 per ton, waning by -2.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 8.6% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $417 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to January 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($400 per ton), while the price for Spain ($237 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovenia (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for ethylene polymers; waste, parings and scraps stood at $509 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $575 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($904 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($268 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
