Price for Frozen Fish and Seafood in Oman (FOB) - 2022
The average frozen fish and seafood export price stood at $1,332 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 6.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 31%. The export price peaked at $2,667 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($9,563 per ton), while the average price for exports to Myanmar ($940 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Egypt (+19.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average frozen fish and seafood import price stood at $2,916 per ton in 2022, increasing by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, frozen fish and seafood import price decreased by -9.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 34%. The import price peaked at $3,233 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($5,117 per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($1,148 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mauritius (+12.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Frozen Fish and Seafood in Oman
In 2022, approx. 233K tons of frozen fish and seafood were exported from Oman; with an increase of 3% against the year before. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +26.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +102.0% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 60%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
