In 2022, the average import price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) amounted to $2,600 per ton, with an increase of 16% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $2,676 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($2,805 per ton), while the price for Russia totaled $2,135 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.4%).

The export price peaked at $11,561 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($13,367 per ton), while the average price for exports to Tajikistan ($1,246 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uzbekistan (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, imports faced a precipitous slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 18%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $32M, and then fell markedly in the following year.
