Price for Hydrogen, Rare Gases and Other Non-Metals in Norway (FOB) - 2024

The average export price for hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses stood at $4.0 per cubic meter in January 2024, picking up by 31% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 819% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $40.6 per cubic meter. From July 2023 to January 2024, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($3.9 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to France ($2.4 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average import price for hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses amounted to $3.2 per cubic meter, picking up by 22% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $4.6 per cubic meter in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($22 per cubic meter), while the price for Finland ($0.2 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bosnia and Herzegovina (+27.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth year in a row, Norway recorded growth in shipments abroad of hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses, which increased by 11% to 255M cubic meters in 2022.
