In October 2023, the average export price for lac; natural gums, resins, gum-resins and balsamses amounted to $5,134 per ton, declining by -1.9% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 9.9% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $5,234 per ton in September 2023, and then fell modestly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Japan ($7,034 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($4,519 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In October 2023, the average import price for lac; natural gums, resins, gum-resins and balsamses amounted to $2,188 per ton, declining by -15% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate pronounced growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2023 an increase of 64% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,944 per ton. From August 2023 to October 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Sudan ($3,202 per ton), while the price for Chad ($1,933 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sudan (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
