In March 2022, the average export price for lac; natural gums, resins, gum-resins and balsamses amounted to $1,417 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2021 when the average export price increased by 14% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,520 per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to March 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was China ($3,058 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($474 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $5,013 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
