In 2022, the average import price for mica, including splittings; mica wastes amounted to $308 per ton, dropping by -8.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, posted a modest increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 73%. The import price peaked at $567 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($511 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($40 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Namibia (+68.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, enjoyed a noticeable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 174% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,762 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uganda ($1,703 per ton), while the average price for exports to Rwanda ($245 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Rwanda (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, approx. 39 tons of mica, including splittings; mica wastes were imported into Kenya; with an increase of 37% on 2021. In general, imports saw strong growth.
