Price for Mollusc Preparations; Mussels, Prepared or Preserved in Latvia (FOB) - 2023

In September 2023, the average export price for mollusc preparations; mussels, prepared or preserveds amounted to $7,623 per ton, jumping by 18% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 25% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $8,159 per ton. From July 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Canada ($11,058 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lithuania ($4,092 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for mollusc preparations; mussels, prepared or preserveds stood at $3,173 per ton in September 2023, increasing by 11% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 54% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,457 per ton. From July 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Denmark ($6,001 per ton), while the price for Spain ($2,726 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +89.8% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 85% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In general, total exports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +21.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +79.4% against 2019 indices.
