The average import price for mollusc preparations; mussels, prepared or preserveds stood at $3,341 per ton in August 2023, growing by 5.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $3,360 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($5,543 per ton), while the price for Chile totaled $3,300 per ton.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+0.3%).

In 2022, the average export price for mollusc preparations; mussels, prepared or preserveds amounted to $3,611 per ton, falling by -17.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $6,444 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Georgia ($4,220 per ton), while the average price for exports to Azerbaijan ($3,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2014 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Georgia (+12.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
