The average import price for nickel; bars, rods and profiles, of nickel alloyses stood at $41,721 per ton in September 2023, reducing by -5.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 7.1% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $44,168 per ton in August 2023, and then dropped in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($49,374 per ton), while the price for Australia ($26,231 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average export price for nickel; bars, rods and profiles, of nickel alloyses amounted to $33,238 per ton, approximately mirroring the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 7.4% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $36,295 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($41,476 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($23,489 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +47.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
