In 2022, the average import price for nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires amounted to $44,491 per ton, growing by 2.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires decreased by -5.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 63%. The import price peaked at $47,059 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($117,638 per ton), while the price for Italy ($3,357 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+22.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth consecutive year, Angola recorded growth in supplies from abroad of nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires, which increased by 133% to 2.1 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a significant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
