The average nutmeg, mace and cardamom import price stood at $4,599 per ton in August 2023, dropping by -68.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 40% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $14,731 per ton in July 2023, and then shrank notably in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($14,961 per ton), while the price for India ($3,627 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
