The average import price for oils and products of the distillation of high temperature coal tar; benzoles stood at $726 per ton in December 2023, increasing by 8.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2023 an increase of 23% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $836 per ton in October 2023; however, from November 2023 to December 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($835 per ton), while the price for Russia ($598 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 24% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 25K tons, and then fell markedly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of oils and products of the distillation of high temperature coal tar; benzoles rose significantly to $17M in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 102% against the previous year.
