In August 2023, the average import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds amounted to $2,356 per ton, waning by -3.1% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 26% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2,430 per ton in July 2023, and then fell modestly in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($4,323 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($1,436 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds stood at $7,212 per ton in October 2023, picking up by 254% against the previous month. Overall, the export price posted buoyant growth. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Azerbaijan.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Azerbaijan amounted to +10.1% per month.
