Price for Optical Fiber, Bundle and Cable in Portugal (CIF) - 2022
The average import price for optical fibers, bundles and cables stood at $11,676 per ton in 2022, dropping by -12% against the previous year. Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($24,742 per ton), while the price for France ($7,109 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (-0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for optical fibers, bundles and cables stood at $11,804 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -8.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 122% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $18,041 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($25,190 per ton), while the average price for exports to Tunisia ($8,826 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Optical Fiber, Bundle and Cable in Portugal
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of optical fibers, bundles and cables, when their volume decreased by -26.5% to 4K tons. In value terms, optical fiber, bundle and cable imports contracted notably to $46M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated moderate growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $71M, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
