The average import price for silicon; containing by weight less than 99.99% of silica stood at $2,798 per ton in December 2023, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 2.5% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,690 per ton. From February 2023 to December 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,910 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($2,525 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Norway (+18.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for silicon; containing by weight less than 99.99% of silica stood at $11,522 per ton in 2022, waning by -27% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a slight setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 278% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $27,703 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($62,344 per ton), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($5,553 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+21.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports of Silicon; Containing by Weight Less than 99.99% of Silicon in Ukraine

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of silicon; containing by weight less than 99.99% of silica decreased by -53% to 661 tons in 2022. In general, imports showed a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 24% against the previous year.

In value terms, imports of silicon; containing by weight less than 99.99% of silica dropped markedly to $2.4M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 68% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $3.3M, and then shrank notably in the following year.
