In 2022, the average import price for spices; nutmeg, crushed or ground amounted to $8,177 per ton, surging by 3.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 32%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $13,040 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($36,237 per ton), while the price for Poland ($5,501 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Estonia (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The export price peaked at $14,758 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($18,525 per ton), while the average price for exports to Latvia ($6,909 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
