The average export price for stainless steel bars and rods, angles, shapes and sectionses stood at $6,501 per ton in October 2023, increasing by 19% against the previous month. Over the period from October 2022 to October 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $6,774 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to October 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($8,874 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($4,071 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the import price posted a strong increase. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($75,030 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($3,592 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
