The average export price for stainless steel in ingots or other primary forms stood at $20,541 per ton in August 2023, declining by -7.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed noticeable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 75% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $41,555 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($41,079 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($3,985 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Greenland (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
