In July 2023, the average steel, alloy; semi-finished products import price amounted to $1,442 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,767 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($6,657 per ton), while the price for Finland ($1,262 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In July 2023, the average steel, alloy; semi-finished products export price amounted to $3,141 per ton, with an increase of 39% against the previous month. In general, the export price enjoyed a noticeable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 129% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $5,233 per ton. From September 2022 to July 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Italy ($18,454 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,492 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+23.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Steel, Alloy; Semi-Finished Products in Sweden
Steel, alloy; semi-finished products imports into Sweden dropped dramatically to 29K tons in 2022, which is down by -20.6% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports recorded a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 50% against the previous year.
