The average import price for steel, stainless; (excluding cold-drawn or cold-rolled), tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia stood at $11,412 per ton in November 2023, declining by -8% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 20% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $13,143 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to November 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Switzerland ($11,778 per ton) and South Korea ($9,567 per ton), while the price for India ($7,930 per ton) and Ukraine ($8,240 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for steel, stainless; (excluding cold-drawn or cold-rolled), tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia amounted to $9,648 per ton, increasing by 22% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 53% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $10,171 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($20,915 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($3,393 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of steel, stainless; (excluding cold-drawn or cold-rolled), tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia imported into Germany rose sharply to 22K tons, surging by 11% compared with 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of steel, stainless; (excluding cold-drawn or cold-rolled), tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia soared to $206M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +43.0% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In general, exports recorded a deep contraction. The smallest decline of -4.2% was in 2020.
In value terms, exports of steel, stainless; (excluding cold-drawn or cold-rolled), tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia totaled $144M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a noticeable slump.
