In September 2023, the average import price for sugars; fructose, chemically pure, in solid form amounted to $1,756 per ton, dropping by -7.3% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated prominent growth from December 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.6% over the last nine months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, import price for sugars; fructose, chemically pure, in solid form decreased by -7.3% against August 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 45% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,894 per ton in August 2023, and then shrank in the following month.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Israel ($2,236 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($1,734 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for sugars; fructose, chemically pure, in solid form stood at $1,822 per ton in September 2023, rising by 6.7% against the previous month. Over the period from December 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +4.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 34% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,873 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($2,072 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($1,273 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ireland (+11.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Sugars; Fructose, Chemically Pure, in Solid Form in the Netherlands

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of sugars; fructose, chemically pure, in solid form decreased by -27.2% to 25K tons in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 35K tons, and then dropped notably in the following year.

In value terms, imports of sugars; fructose, chemically pure, in solid form dropped notably to $24M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +29.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $30M, and then fell sharply in the following year.
