The average import price for tobacco; partly or wholly stemmed or stripped stood at $6,484 per ton in October 2023, remaining stable against the previous month. Over the period from October 2022 to October 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2023 an increase of 36% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $6,623 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($8,863 per ton), while the price for China ($3,783 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Andorra ($23,404 per ton), while the average price for exports to Senegal stood at $7,207 per ton.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Andorra (+1.6%).
